Your work should stay yours.
The Self Mastery Compass needs enough information to continue your conversation and give you a useful response. It does not need your identity to begin.

What the Compass keeps
The Compass stores your answers, progress, generated reflection, and the operational events needed to run and improve the experience. A private browser cookie reconnects this device to its session. You can begin without creating an account or providing contact information.
If this browser contains someone else's Northstar work, choose Not me. Start private. That opens a new session without showing the earlier person's answers. It does not automatically delete the earlier server record.
Voice answers
When voice answers are available, nothing records until you choose Start recording. A visible timer runs while the microphone is active. You can cancel before upload, or stop and send the recording for transcription.
The recording is sent securely to OpenAI's audio transcription service. Northstar uses the returned text in your answer and does not save the raw audio after the transcription request. The transcript is editable and is never submitted as a finished answer automatically. Review it and change anything that does not sound like you.
OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default. Its current data controls also list the audio transcription endpoint as having no abuse monitoring retention or application state retention. Provider practices can change, so Northstar reviews those terms before enabling or materially changing this feature.
Contact information stays separate
If you later choose to provide your name, email, phone number, or request a conversation, Northstar stores that contact record separately from the anonymous Compass session where practical. Contact is optional unless a later service clearly requires it.
How Northstar learns
Northstar may use de-identified patterns to improve questions, interpretations, recommendations, timing, safety, and outcomes. Improvement data should remove direct identifiers, use grouped reporting where practical, and avoid sending answer text into ordinary analytics tools. Northstar does not offer participant answers as training material for a third party's general model.
Your choices
You can stop at any time. You may also ask a privacy question or request access, correction, or deletion where applicable. Legal, security, transaction, and recordkeeping duties may limit a request.
